GENERAL FAQs
Do you travel for sessions?
Yes! Travel fees vary depending on the location.
Do you have a studio for indoor Sessions?
No. Unfortunately, I do not. I take many photos outdoors, scheduling around sunrise & sunset times. For Premium & Newborn Sessions, I am happy to discuss other indoor options &/or in-home Sessions.
What are your preferred locations?
I am always on the lookout for new locations that will work well with my photography style. I do many sessions at the following locations:
Wisconsin
- Kenosha County Veterans Memorial Park (Twin Lakes, WI)
- Downtown Williams Bay (Williams Bay, WI)
- Harris Creek of Kishwauketoe Nature Conservancy (Williams Bay, WI)
- Elizabeth Lake Nature Preserve (Richmond, IL)
Illinois
- Cuba Marsh (Deer Park IL)
- Paulus Park / Lake Zurich Beach (Lake Zurich, IL)
- Sternes Woods Park (Crystal Lake, IL)
- Covered Bridge Rd. (South Barrington, IL)
- Busse Woods (Elk Grove Township, IL)
What is the best time of day for outdoor photos?
The ideal time for photos is during “golden hour”. This occurs 1-2 hours prior to the sun setting. This time of day will give us the prettiest light. I understand however this might not be ideal for little ones. In this case we can easily move to a morning session or move up the start time. Happy kiddos are much more important than the perfect time!
What happens if I schedule an outdoor session and the weather is not suitable to be outside?
I want your session to be enjoyable and produce beautiful photos, so I always allows my clients to make the final decision about rescheduling a session. If the weather isn’t cooperating (which happens often here in the Midwest), you can contact me and find another time/day that is available.
What if we need to reschedule?
I understand that curveballs come all the time. In the event of bad weather or an unforeseen circumstance that conflicts with your scheduled photo session, I am happy to reschedule!
Can we include our dog?
Absolutely! Our fur babies are family too and they are more than welcome to join you whether it’s an on-location family photoshoot or an in-home session. If we are on-location, I usually have to confirm that dogs are permitted but in most cases they are. If you can, sometimes it helps to enlist a friend or family member to assist during the session.
Can you do some light retouching?
Yes! I will usually help erase or minimize any non-permanent marks as needed. This could include acne that snuck up, a scratch or dry skin. In most cases, it’s a simple retouch and it’s included with your session. In the event of the need for more advanced editing, I’ll chat with you about retouching options for you to decide.
How long until we get our photos back?
All sessions will get photos within 2-3 weeks from the session date. Your gallery will be delivered via email and where you can download your full gallery with one click.
Can we purchase prints, canvases and other photo products?
Yes, of course. I offer an easy and convenient way to order directly from your gallery. I offer high-quality, affordable, quality prints, enlargements, canvases and other items. These items are printed at a professional photo lab that I highly recommend.
Regardless of where you choose to print your images, I encourage you to not only print them and enjoy them but be sure to use a professional lab. Please do not use retail locations such as Walgreens or Walmart as their machines are not consistently calibrated to produce professional quality images.
Will I be charged a sales tax?
Yes, all Sessions and Products are subject to a 5% WI Sales Tax. All digital downloads are considered physical goods in Wisconsin.

NEWBORN FAQs
When are newborn sessions scheduled?
My Newborn Sessions are usually scheduled in the first 14 days after birth but can be done any time really. Contact me once you have the baby and we will schedule your session. Newborn Sessions usually take place between 9:00-12:00PM.
Do you have a studio for Sessions?
Unfortunately, I do not. I only offer in-home Newborn Sessions at this time.
Why are Newborn Sessions more expensive than a full session?
I love to work with newborns and always takes the extra time they often require. Since newborns need plenty of breaks to eat, have a diaper change, or just be held during a fussy time, newborn sessions often take several hours. When photographing a newborn, I bring some posing items, wraps, blankets, accessories, and other newborn props. These are provided just Newborn Sessions. Additionally, editing a Newborn Session is normally more extensive and I give the images the extra attention they need.
Do you provide props for Newborn Sessions?
Yes, I do bring a few props from my posing prop collection (selected by you) and various wraps, blankets, outfits and accessories. Additionally, I always encourage my clients to incorporate items that are special to them. For example, furniture heirlooms, special books or toys, vintage blankets and outfits. If you have a specific look you want to try recreating, I do ask that you provide all the items needed for that look, as I cannot guarantee that I have everything in my personal collections. I am happy to try various looks/inspirations found on the internet but cannot guarantee the recreation.
Will you pose the baby?
Yes, I do pose newborns. I have many props for you to choose from. You will get to select your favorite three items for your Newborn Session. I will also take some “Lifestyle” photos so that you have a wide variety of images in your gallery. I love capturing family connection with baby, baby details, baby in their nursery, etc. I always try to focus on rooms with the best lighting.
What if the baby is fussy?
Do not stress. My sessions are relaxed and casual. We will take the baby’s lead and feed, change, cuddle as many times as needed. If baby doesn’t want to be put down, we will take photos of baby being held and cuddled!
What if our home is dark?
I am a natural-light photographer, meaning I rely mostly on the natural light filtering into your home through your windows and glass doors. I do bring some lighting equipment with me for cloudy or dreary days, just in case! Between the natural light and the equipment, I bring along, we should be covered! (I always try to setup in rooms with the best natural lighting.)
What should we wear for our newborn session?
For parents and siblings, I recommend keeping your wardrobe simple for Newborn Sessions. You don’t want clothing to overshadow your new baby. Neutral colors are perfect for parents. Grey, white, cream, navy, and light blues photograph really nicely indoors. Additionally, once booked, I offer my clients complimentary wardrobe styling to prepare for their Session!
